The second-generation XOS 2 is lighter, faster and uses 50% less power than the XOS 1 proof-of-concept robotic suit. Powered by an internal-combustion engine and a combination of sensors, actuators and controllers, the exoskeleton allows its wearing to lift 200lb repeatedly without tiring, says Raytheon, but is agile enough to climb stairs, kick a ball, etc.
Raytheon is currently developing the robotic suit to help with the many logistics challenges faced by the military both in and out of theater.
